statement of faith

We believe that there is only one God, creator and sustainer of all things, who is eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1-2; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 1:15-17).

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible and authoritative Word of God. As a result, it is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (Colossians 1:15-20; John 1:1-14; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, 12-58).

All people have value and dignity. We are created in God’s image, male and female, comprised of a unity of body and spirit, made to live in obedient and loving relationship with our Creator and as stewards of His creation. However, we all have become alienated from Him and others because of sin and are therefore justly subject to God’s condemnation. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 145:17; John 15:12; Matthew 22:37, Romans 3:9-23; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 1:18-20)

We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful people is only by faith in Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death alone, the free gift of God. We believe the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. By these things, God’s forgiveness, grace and mercy extend to all of us who turn from our sin and ask for it. We call those people Christians. (Ephesians 2:4–9; Romans 5:1, 6:1-4; 8:9-11, Titus 3:4-7)

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by who’s indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life as a disciple of Jesus. (John 14:24-26; I Peter 1:2; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:1-16, Galatians 5:16-23) This means behaving consistently with what the Bible teaches: doing the things the Bible describes as right and not advocating or practicing those things the Bible describes as sinful, such as dishonesty, greed, sexual relationship outside a lifelong marriage commitment between a man and a woman, drunkenness and foul language.

We believe that Jesus will return to personally and visibly judge all people. The saved will be raised to eternal life on account of Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection and the lost to eternal separation from God. (Matthew 25:31-46, Hebrews 9:27, 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10; Acts 1:11, 2 Thessalonians 4:13-17)

We believe the saved are under a duty to tell others about the salvation that Jesus offers, to teach others to follow Jesus’ teaching, and to explain why they believe these things to be true (Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Peter 3:15; 1 Timothy 3:16).

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ. (Galatians 3:26-28, Ephesians 4:2-6)
