YFC has just released a new book by National Director, Cindy McGarvie, titled Lost Boys.
In it she illuminates the current cultural situation affecting our young men and uses military strategy from her background in the Australian army to encourage the church to engage in this epic spiritual battle.
“Something has gone awry with our boys and young men,” says Cindy.
“I had been noticing that they are not flourishing on a number of fronts so I began to do some research. What I found was truly devastating.
“But there is hope, and it's found in Jesus.
“Now, more than ever, Christians must awaken and see that we are in a battle. It's time to bring the lost boys home.”
The book is available for purchase at lostboys.org.au with all proceeds going to support the mission of Youth for Christ.
Lost Boys Book Review
By Dave Brereton
CEO - YFC International
Lost Boys is not about giving us the answers; it is about challenging our paradigms. It is a brutally honest diagnosis of the health (moral, emotional, and spiritual) of our young men. Chapter 3 is hard going. But keep reading; there is hope.
Cindy’s direct use of military language and situational analysis is clarifying and thought-provoking. Her work is well researched but annoying, in the best sense of the word.
When you have finished reading this book, you will be unsettled and unsatisfied with how you are seeing and communicating with the young men in your life. On the other hand, you will pray for our lost boys more and judge them less. You may also find yourself listening to podcasts and watching YouTubers, whom she quotes.
So go for it—read every word, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!
