How a Hope Card in an ice cream shop sparked a new journey with Jesus

Youth for Christ Missionary, Rebecca, shares an encouraging story from the mission field in Australia.

In one of our recent outreach evenings, a few of us dropped into a little ice cream shop. That’s where we met Mika, serving behind the counter.

After ordering, we handed her a Hope Card, a simple card that links to short personal testimonies of hope in Jesus and a Gospel explanation.

We didn’t think too much of it at the time, but Mika stayed on our hearts, and we prayed for her.

The next week when we returned, she remembered us immediately. She told us she'd watched the Hope videos online and that they'd encouraged her and from there we really began to connect.

What began as small conversations soon became a weekly tradition with us dropping by her store to hang out after she finished work. As our friendship grew, Mika began joining us for Discovery Bible Studies and asking more about God and faith.

Mika’s life has been transformed as she came to know Jesus and experienced genuine love and community. And when Mika decided to put her trust in Jesus we had the joy of baptising her.

Now, she’s sharing her faith with others too. Praise God!
