Ethan's Yes to Jesus: Turning Passion into Purpose with Lasting Impact

“Christianity is as simple as saying yes to Jesus and no to anything else,” states 21-year-old Ethan emphatically.

At first glance, Ethan might seem like your stereotypical adventure loving Aussie bloke. However, spend a moment with him, and you'll quickly discover an infectious passion for Jesus coupled with a depth of faith that’s remarkable for his age.

“I’ve always been passionate about a lot of things,” Ethan explains.

“So when I found Jesus I couldn’t hold it back. I had to tell others.

“But it was also very misdirected. I loved evangelism and I loved the idea of sharing the Gospel with everyone that came my way but I never really saw too much discipleship out of it.

“I’d meet all these people, have these great discussions and I got really good at getting people to say ‘yes’ but then I’d never hear from them again. And I could only turn a blind eye to how often that happened to a point where I had to admit ‘I gotta be missing something’.

“And so I found Youth for Christ at an incredible time in my life.

“I remember I went on this YFC mission trip with this guy that I had just met and I’d never really seen anyone live like Jesus the way that he lived like Jesus. And it rocked me.

“At one point, in my arrogance at the time, I tried to correct him in the way that he was sharing the gospel and he so lovingly and gently said, “Hey, what does the bible say about that?” And I realised I didn’t know. So we just went through scripture together.

“And you know the bible says to make disciples.

“I had found it easy to get caught up in the trap of thinking I’ve got to do everything myself, but I’ve grown to see that the bible is about empowering and equipping other disciples to reach people that I’m probably never going to meet.

“It’s more than just sharing my faith with my words. It’s embodying what it looks like to be a Christian, laying down my life every day and loving others for the sake of the Gospel.”

Ethan is now a missionary with YFC himself and helping others, not just to live for Jesus, but to become disciples that make disciples.

“Seeing genuine discipleship that produces real fruit and partnering with other incredible people in this mission – it’s so much fun”, shares Ethan.

Ethan features on Episode Three of Made in Jesus, an online film series made by our friends at 7 Summits Production that follows the real lives and faith adventures of young Aussie Christians.

As we have been partnering with Made in Jesus and showing episodes in schools and youth groups around Australia, we have seen hundreds of youth counting the cost and saying “Yes” to Jesus.

One teenager told us, “Tonight is the first time I have believed God is real.”

Thank you for standing alongside young missionaries like Ethan to help Aussie youth say yes to Jesus and no to everything else.
