ARE YOU READY TO BE BAPTISED?

The bold heading caught 21-year-old Jeremy’s eye as he scrolled through his Facebook feed in 2023. The post was part of the social media campaigns your support is helping make possible.

Though raised in a loving Christian home, Jeremy admits he never truly followed Jesus. Instead, his life spiralled into depression, addictions, anger, and violence. But, just as he was ready to give up on life, he decided in desperation to “try God again.”

One night in prayer, Jeremy had a radical encounter where depression and addictions were lifted off in an instant. Hungry for more, he opened the Bible his mum had given him at age 12 but never read.

“The pages started to come alive, and before I knew it, I was in love with Jesus,” he recalls.

When he saw the baptism ad four months later, Jeremy registered. But on the day, he hesitated, until one final invitation was given.

“I tore off my work boots and ran into the water. When I came out, I was filled with the Holy Spirit. Hatred and rage were gone, replaced by love for everyone. My whole life was turned upside down, but I had perfect peace.”

As Jeremy grew in faith he began sharing Jesus and discipling others. But he still struggled with fear and longed to find other Christians who shared his passion. Then, earlier this year, he felt God leading him to join our Disciple Camp. “It completely changed my outlook on the Christian walk,” he says.

“For the first time I met people on fire for God like I was. I learned that every believer can make disciples, baptise, and share the Gospel. We're all called to this!”

Over the week of camp Jeremy learned practical, hands-on tools for evangelism and discipleship, and the fear that had once held him back was broken.

“I had so much fear of man, but also didn’t know how to share. The tools gave me a clear and practical way to share the Gospel and allows the Holy Spirit to move like I could never have imagined when talking to the ‘lost’.”

Since camp, Jeremy has stepped out boldly, regularly evangelising in pubs, clubs and on the street walking alongside new believers, discipling and even baptising them. He’s also launched a Kingdom-focused mechanic business, trusting God to use it for His glory.

“My prayer constantly is that God’s will be done, not mine – to live my life completely laid down at His feet. I only want to give Him the Glory.”
