Disciple Makers

by Sarah Alarcon

In July the YFC NSW Young Evangelist group ran their annual “DISCIPLE MAKERS” camp.

This camp is designed as a spiritual boot camp for young people who are passionate about building a deeper relationship with God and empowering and equipping them to step out in peer to peer evangelism.

Every year when planning these camps I set out with a prayerful and open heart, expecting that God will do amazing things and as always, God never disappoints!

Over 4 days I saw young people engaging in deep discussions and teachings on discipleship, surrender, evangelism, spiritual gifts and disciplines. As a leader it is truly a miracle every time I see a young person develop a hunger for God’s word or surrender completely to God, every time it is a “goosebumps” moment of joy.

The vision of YFC is that every young person be given an opportunity to become a follower of Jesus, so the more young people who are passionate about changing their world for Jesus the more we become one step closer to achieving this vision.

Young people like 16 year old Rachel experienced a deeper and true relationship with God . She shares,

“Going on the disciple makers camp was definitely a life changer for me, as cliche as it sounds, there isn’t many things that change my life from suffering from depression to giving my life to God for the first time, to experiencing him, and now after camp, knowing my purpose in Christ. I’ve never been more encouraged and more confident to go out and share the love of God, until now.”

I would ask you to join me in praying for these young leaders as they are now impacting others in their community and sharing the life changing message of Jesus.
