From vocal atheist to passionate Christian
May 5, 2015
There is a generation of passionate young believers rising up in Australia. They come from different backgrounds but share a common desire to live for Jesus and proclaim His name. Young leaders like Andrew.
Andrew was once a vocal atheist. He shares, “Everyone knew me as someone who didn’t believe in God. I was the person who would try to convince you; that God didn’t exist; that religion was pointless; to live life for yourself.
“Today that story is much different – on the other end of the spectrum. I wasn’t converted, I didn’t follow a crowd, I did not conform. I didn’t make a decision for my family, for my friends, or for a church. I experienced an encounter with my creator. In a moment I felt true tangible love fall upon me. This is how God became real to me. This is how the Bible became alive to me. This is how I turned from the outside looking in at a seemingly pointless religion – to experiencing and living in close relationship with a father who loved me.
“The revelation that God does exist is found in the transformation of people. I had a lot of hate, anger and pain that I held on to, which was taken from me at the point of salvation, it was replaced with love. I gained in a moment a taste of what life is truly meant to be, and ever since I’ve lived the life I was truly meant to live. I have witnessed God heal and mend, physical and emotional needs, I’ve witnessed unshakable faith of believers and countless examples of transformed lives of those who have encountered their father.
“God, His grace and this love surpass our understanding. It’s greater than our logic and any possible argument of evidence and reason.
“I now have a passion to see young people understand their value and to come to know that they are loved. This is why I have joined YFC as an intern. It’s a privilege to be a vessel to be used by God and show His love to others. There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing.”
Thank you for your support which has allowed us to invest in young leaders like Andrew to help encourage, equip, empower and release them into ministry.
