Introduction

YFC cares for those who are finding life difficult, with practical and personal support. In many cases, young people lack basic life skills and struggle to reach their full potential. Many are marginalized through no fault of their own as they face big life issues such as family conflict, abuse, homelessness, alcoholism and mental illness. Over the years, each YFC region has offered different care programs to meet the needs of young people in their area. This includes foster care, lead tenant housing, mentoring, family counselling and camps.

Teenage Foster Care

Teenage Foster Care provides homeless young people, between the ages of 12 to 18, with a place to live within a ‘family’ home, supported by the members of that household and YFC staff. . . . .

Housing

The housing program provides support and accommodation to young people, using either lead tenant or independent living housing arrangements. . . . .

Juvenile Justice

We run visitation / mentoring programs with both male & female young people who are currently caught up in the justice system. These can take the form of an informal visitation program, a No Limits style program or alternative activities eg Next Step.

Family Reconciliation

Our Youth and Family Counsellors are fully qualified and experienced. We work from a client-focused perspective with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our team specializes in meeting young people in their own environment (school, beach, café, etc) to provide support and assistance. We journey with young people to develop healthy, meaningful relationships with family, friends, and their community.
