You are here:  Youth Connections

Relationships are the lifeblood of YFC. Everything we do is about connecting with young people and helping them discover their true identity. We have our finger on the pulse of current culture and constantly evolve in how we engage with young people – from adventure to dancing, counselling to events. Our programs look different in each region because we shape them according to the needs of the young people in each area.

Here are the five main areas that feature what we do…

Schools

YFC’s vision of ‘every young person’ means we are involved with as many secondary schools as possible. This is the last real opportunity to reach an entire generation in the one place at the one time. We connect with students over breakfast, lunch, in class time and after school through activities like sport, dance and interactive programs. Often there are volunteers from local churches who come along to get to know young people from their community. . . . .

Care

YFC cares for those who are finding life difficult, giving practical and personal support. In many cases, young people lack basic life skills and struggle to reach their full potential. Many are marginalized through no fault of their own as they face big life issues such as family conflict, abuse, homelessness, alcoholism and mental illness. Over the years, each YFC region has offered different care programs to meet the needs of young people in their area. . . . .

Adventure

Adventure-based activities take groups of young people away from their normal, often-destructive environment and helps to break down barriers. The great outdoors offers a unique setting to positively influence the lives of young people. Often going out of their comfort zones while on wilderness expeditions and camps at the surf and snow, young people are stretched physically and emotionally. They learn a lot about themselves and each other and this can be applied in their school, work and family life. . . . .

Multimedia

Technology is a way of life for Australian teenagers. Websites, TV and social networking are critical communication tools to engage a young generation with the life-changing message of Jesus. YFC is continually exploring fresh ways of using multimedia to reach and disciple young people and to equip our staff and volunteers. . . . .

Events

Events are a great way to bring together a large group of people to build relationships, have fun and go deeper with God. Partnering with local churches, YFC opens up a range of events to high school students outside of school including dance competitions, youth quakes (large fun based gatherings), short term mission trips, training nights, community events and more. . . . .
