A BEQUEST IN THE WILL

Everyone should have a will. It is an essential document which directs how property and family affairs will be handled after death, and it permits one to exercise the right to choose what to do with the possessions and investments accumulated throughout a lifetime. As a legal document it helps prevent the government, or others, from deciding what will happen to an individual's estate.

However, a will is more than just a legal document. A will is also a statement of principles and beliefs developed over a lifetime, and it allows a person to choose how those principles will be acknowledged after death.

A gift given through a will is usually an easy process, is relatively inexpensive, can be accomplished through a simple inclusion in the will, and allows a donor to make a contribution to YFC Australia.

BENEFITS OF A BEQUEST
  • Establishes a significant gift to Youth for Christ Australia in the future without affecting an individual's current cash flow.

  • Can create a lasting memorial to a loved one or the donor.

  • Can be used for general purposes or specific ones according to guidelines set out by the donor.

How To Make A Bequest

Whether you are about to draft a will or are contemplating major changes to a current one, a bequest to YFC Australia can be made through a simple inclusion. You should always discuss wording with your lawyer.

A typical wording is offered below. Further examples can be found in our Giving Handbook below.

"I give, devise and bequeath to Youth for Christ Australia Inc the sum of $_____, (or _____ % share of my estate) for the use and purposes of YFC Australia as its Board of Directors may determine AND I DECLARE that the receipt of Youth for Christ Australia Inc for the said moneys shall constitute a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustees without them being obliged to see to the application thereof."
